TV SCREENING: TIME SERVED (1999)

I caught this baby last night on TV! I kinda missed the start. What I like most about this film was how all the character were 2d. There’s no room for gray in this movie. Character were either really bad or really good. So the first scene I saw involved a bad husband abusing his good wife (Catherine Oxenberg) and there small child being scared and running away. So initially i thought this movie was going to be a moralistic “after school special” tv movie about domestic violence! I was sold! So I kept on watching this bad husband hitting his good wife. But then there was a totally unexpected tv movie twist. The child comes back with a hand gun and send his stink’en daddy straight to hell. The kids did it in cold blood!!! He didn’t even blink!!!! Well I guess his bad 2d dad deserved to die. So his good mother takes the blame.

Her defense lawyer (Jeff Fahey) tells she probably going to jail her judge is called “Maximum Bill”. (We can tell her defense lawyer is a little unprofessional due to his loosen tie and relaxed attitude). So good old predictable Maximum Bill send her off for 8 years. Bill then walks off to his chambers and has this amazing monologue about how all women are dirty and he should have given her more! So at this point I’m thinking maybe its going to end up being a moralistic court room drama! So she goes to jail and and stripped down for the  standard “women in prison, stripping down to get into prison clothes” scene. After seeing a lot of full frontal nudity. I started to wonder what on earth was I watching. She then meet her cell mate whose opening line was “wanna have sex” as she is a good moralistic mother she declines. Then her room mate goes on to tell her the premises to the movie. In order the take time off there sentence they have the option (I kid you not) of dancing at a local strip bar. Of course she declines. But after an anal probing from the nurse, being raped by lesbian inmates, and a frustrating conversation with her defense lawyer she changed her mind. It tuned out that Bo Hoskin owns the strip club, and the “Maximum Bill” is a regular! As the film goes on she gets more naked  her defense lawyer get more professional (as indicated by his straighten tie and concerned attitude). The films climax involved  Maximum Bill, strippers and gun! What more could you want!!! Oddly enough this film had four writers. Under no circumstance should you seek this movie out. Let it find you at 3am one morning!!!
